Detailed Description
Casa Smilia is a superb detached villa set in a large plot approximately 800m from the fishing village of Praia da Luz. From the terrace there are good views across the rooftops down to the village. Although a car is not absolutely essential, it is useful. If one likes walking one can reach the village on foot in approximately 7/8 minutes. In the village there is a lovely beach, an assortment of bars and restaurants.
Consiting of: A large, very well furnished living space, comprising of a lounge with Internet driven TV, CD, WIFI and patio doors out to the wonderful outside terrace and private pool. There is a dining area (large table and chairs) with another lounge area with “French” style seating. A large King sized bedroom, a further King sized bedroom. The third bedroom at other side of house has twin beds and both having the advantage of a shower room en suite (one is more like a Wet Room). There is also a separate guest cloakroom with WC and basin.
There is modern fully fitted kitchen with full oven, separate hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, plus all usual utensils for your party. A washing machine is housed in the laundry room along with ironing board etc.
The covered BBQ area, has an attendants shower with non-slip tiles.
The swimming pool is approximately 10m x 4m and has a saltwater filtration system therefore not a lot of Chlorine. There is a “Bubble seat” with a Jacuzzi sensation. The pool can be heated at extra cost. A plentiful supply of outside furniture for al-fresco dining and sunbathing is supplied; all in all Casa Smilia is a superb villa for outside entertaining and relaxation owing to its good sized pool terrace etc.

AUGUST 202We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect holiday (our first family holiday with our baby!). The villa was beautiful, spacious, safe and so well equipped. The views were beautiful!
The pool was perfect for us to play in and our baby to swim! The bbq area was stunning!
It’s quite a steep walk back from town but was no problem at all.
Val was super helpful- as always, especially given corona!

SEPT 2019 - D Keefe ... We have used Valgarve for our summer holiday in Praia da Luz for the last 4 years and have been very satisfied with both the service at home and In Praia da Luz.
The area is very pretty and picturesque, people are very friendly and the bars and restaurants are fantastic and reasonably priced.
We stayed at a different villa this year - Smilia ..... , it was beautiful, lovely pool and all you could wish for.In fact we have already booked it for 2020.

AUGUST 2019 : Irene - WOW Villa Smilia was just absolutely beautiful, we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday there. The weather was glorious and needless to say we all loved the swimming pool. We will definitely like to stay there again. Thank you also for arranging taxi transfers.

JULY 2019 - We had a lovely 10 days at Casa Smilia. The villa is beautiful, very clean and has great facilities - My three year old son particularly loved the swimming pool, especially the bubble seat. The location was perfect as well - We did hire a car for going back and forth to the beach in the day, but then we walked to the restaurants in the evening so a car is definitely not essential. I can't recommend Val enough. I have now stayed in three of her properties and she has been extremely helpful, and even sorted out transfers and car hire, Thank you again for another fantastic holiday.

SEPTEMBER 2020 We had a wonderful time this year at Cassa Smilla as we did last year.
Villa first class, swimming pool excellent.. This year we took my mum with us, she couldn't get over how beautiful the villa and swimming pool were, also how wonderful Praia Da Luz is. We found Praia Da Luz more Covid aware than at home, so we felt more safe and secure with actions taken. Val and Jacqui were their normal helpful and happy selves.

AUGUST 2020
- Lovely villa is a nice location just above Luz. High enough to be out of the bustle of the main town but not so high as to be caught in the winds at the top of the hill
- Was lovely and peaceful when we were
- The villa feels very safe and secure. Locked gates for car and pedestrian access. Electric shutters on all windows and very high-tech alarm system (which we didn’t use 😊)
- The interior of the villa is lovely; very functional with good living spaces and a well-equipped kitchen (coffee machine, wine fridge)
- There is a washing machine, ironing board etc. in the laundry area
- The owners apparently live here from mid Sept - mid April and it is obvious that they take pride in their property and have lots of really nice touches and details (lovely artwork, lighting in all the right places, memory foam mattress toppers etc.)
- Two of the bedrooms are en-suite (showers, no bath). The third bedroom is a little small but would be fine for kids.
- No air conditioning in the rooms (which is fine by me!) but also no mosquito nets on the windows so if you open windows and shutters to keep the air moving then the mosquitos could be a minor problem
- Outside this villa is an absolute winner! A large s-facing covered terrace runs out to the pool area. This covered area is fantastic as it allows shade during the day for those who don’t want the full sun but they are still very much in the same place as those who are in the sun by the pool. There is a large dining table in the covered area so lunch in the shade is not a problem and there is a lovely sheltered seating area so evenings out until late are not a problem. The exterior lighting in the evening is also nice and subtle.
- The pool is salt water, which is nice, but it really isn’t an avid swimmer’s pool.
- The BBQ area is also fantastic. A proper functional BBQ with sink and work-surfaces. Nice and sheltered so BBQs are an option even on breezy evenings
- The villa is all on one level with wide doorways so would certainly be wheelchair friendly. The shower in the main bathroom should be wheelchair accessible
