Stunning south-facing villa, with private pool and spectacular sea views within a short walking distance of the beach, shops & restaurants in the old fishing village of Salema.
The property is a large private self-contained annex, with its own entrance, swimming pool and off-street parking. The freshwater private pool (approx. 8m x 4m) benefits from all day / early evening sun and is typically warmer than average; the terrace is fully equipped with outside furniture & BBQ for al-fresco dining and loungers for sunbathing. We do not recommend this property for children under 8 years old. .
Arranged over 2 floors, the villa is spacious, sunny and tastefully furnished. The first floor is open plan with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area with sliding doors (with insect screen) leading directly to the patio and pool. It benefits from air conditioning that also doubles as a heater in the cooler months of the year.
Stairs lead up to the two lovely furnished bedrooms (with ceiling fans) both with en-suite shower rooms. Both rooms have balconies and enjoy panoramic sea views.

Two bedrooms, both with shower enclosures and water closets. The villa sleeps up to 4 people with a twin bedroom and another room that can have either 1 or 2 single beds. Both rooms have insect screens. Downstairs also features a cloakroom. Hairdryer supplied

The kitchen is fully fitted with modern units and granite work surfaces, a 4-ring ceramic hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, toaster and extensive utensils for cooking.

The good sized lounge / diner has comfortable seating, dining table and chairs, Wi-Fi, Smart TV with internet and basic satellite TV channels, iPod dock with headphone jack aux input, and DVD player.
Location
The location is excellent for beach lovers, walkers and golfers and, for days out, is close to a number of other small villages & popular areas such as Sagres and Luz and for shopping & markets, Lagos. The walk into Salema village / beach takes around 6-7 minutes and due to the incline, about 10 minutes on the way back.

"My wife and I had a lovely stay here in the quiet fishing town of Salema. There are some lovely restaurants a short walk away, its quite a steep hill from the villa but no issues for the 5mth pregnant Mrs except taking it slow sometimes. There are some beautiful beaches off the beaten track nearby too, like Praia Santa.
The villa is very well equipped, we made good use of the cooking facilities, including BBQ, for a few meals in. Cooling off in the pool was a nice luxury too as the weather was so hot. Amanda & Keith next door were great too, they were happy to help with our silly questions and I was chuffed to be gifted a some homegrown tomatoes and chillies in the week. We've already made some of our own piri-piri chicken since returning home, thank you Amanda (it was v. spicy!).
We'd love to return as a family in a few years, once our 'bump' has grown into a child."

"The villa far exceeded my expectations. It is very spacious, clean, and includes great closets in the bedrooms. All the appliances and fixtures are new, modern, and of high quality. The kitchen was stocked with all of the plates, pans, etc that we needed to cook at home. Salema is such a wonderful village and we could walk less than 5 minutes and be at the beach. I could not offer a higher recommendation for this property and the value. The views from both bedrooms are incredible. We could hear the waves through the screen door every night. Our hosts next door, Amanda and her family, are such gracious and helpful. An amazing and relaxing retreat!

I have never written two reviews for one place but then again I have never loved somewhere so much that I have wanted to return for the second year running.
South View Annexe is not just about the property. It's about the fabulous owners, the organisation from Valerie the agent, and Salema itself.
The property is enormous. A huge open plan kitchen and living space and a pool just steps from the door. 2 large en suite double bedrooms with balconies and great views towards the ocean (and the occasional dolphin!). There is a private driveway secured by electronic gates. The kitchen if fully equipped and the washing machine means that you don't have to pack your entire wardrobe. The pool is well maintained and there are sun beds and dining furniture around the patio area. There is also an outdoor shower for when you get back from the beach.
Amanda and Keith, the owners, welcomed us back like old friends and we settled back in to what felt like a home from home. Always on hand if you ever need anything and they take great pride in their home and ensuring that you are having a great holiday. There are some welcome food items there on arrival including bread, fruit and wine (what more could you need!)
Salema has a great beach and some good restaurants and bars. All low key and perfect for families. The local area is great to explore and some outstanding beaches are literally minutes away by car. A large supermarket is a 5 minute drive although there are a couple of small grocery stores in the village. Lagos is the nearest town and we enjoyed a great boat trip from the harbour.
We are in the process of booking again for next year. Valerie manages the bookings and is efficient, friendly and flexible. Booking a property independently can be daunting but Valerie is wonderful and keeps you informed and communicates regularly.

South View Annexe is a beautiful place with a fantastic view, a great feeling of space, a good swimming pool and it felt very clean, fresh and new. It was very comfortable too and had all amenities. My kids loved being able to watch UK TV on Sky!
Amanda and Keith were charming and very welcoming. Amanda let my kids play table tennis on her side, which they thoroughly enjoyed and I got the feeling she liked us making use of the place and playing in the pool etc.
We could hear them and doubtless, they could hear us too but this didn't seem a problem at all. My kids also loved their dogs

Another fabulous week in South View Annexe. The villa is private, spacious and spotlessly clean. More than enough space for four adults. Set on the hillside overlooking Salema, it is just five minutes walk from the village which, in addition to a beautiful beach, boasts several restaurants, a couple of bars and a small convenience store. As other reviewers have mentioned, the walk back is steep!
Owners Amanda and Keith are on hand if needed, but are never intrusive.
Finally, Val handles all bookings and enquiries efficiently and is a pleasure to deal with. I’m sure it won’t be the last time we book with her.
AUGUST 2019 We had a very warm welcome from Amanda and her husband Keith who were so kind to us during our stay at South View Annexe.The property was truly wonderful, a real home from home and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.The villa is in a great location with fantastic views of the sea and Salema below that can be reached on foot easily.
Salema itself was definitely to our liking; small but perfectly formed! Having a car is a must really if you want to explore the area and we got to try out many of the beautiful beaches along the coastline and the restaurants too.We will definitely come back here again, in fact we want to give it six stars! JULY 2020 We spent our one-week vacation in early July 2020 in the wonderful holiday home South View Annex. The house is tastefully decorated and each bedroom has its own bathroom. From the bedroom you have a fantastic view of the sea. The house was very clean.
The clean, large pool was the highlight, especially for our 6 year old son. From the house you can walk to the sea and very good restaurants in a few minutes. The way back is a bit more difficult due to the ascent.
Amenda, the owner, lives in the neighboring house and was always on hand with help and advice.
A rental car is, in my opinion, advisable, in any case, but we weren't on the road much, but enjoyed the peace and quiet in the house. However, we often used the grill. Approx. There was a supermarket 3 km away, there was everything you need.
It was a wonderful time in Salema and fondly thinks back on the beautiful days.

SEPTEMBER 2019 South View Annexe in Salema was all we hoped for and more. Quiet and relaxing with fabulous views from both bedrooms, the villa was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean throughout. The owner, Amanda, has a great eye for detail. She is on hand in the adjoining house if needed, but is never intrusive.
The villa is in a residential area, just a five minute walk into the village with its beautiful beach and abundance of fabulous restaurants. Two mini-markets mean you do not have to venture out of Salema if you have no plans to explore the Algarve.
Valgarve provide an excellent service. Val answers all enquiries with speed, efficiency and a lovely sense of humour, giving a real personal touch to your holiday booking. She arranged both villa and hire car bookings, leaving us nothing further to do other than book our flights and enjoy ourselves on arrival! We were so impressed we are booking again for next year.

June 2022 - Maddy The villa lived up to all our expectations which were entirely based on the description and photos, there was nothing missing and it was genuinely a lovely space for relaxation, comfortable seating inside and out with a sociable kitchen/diner/sitting room for evenings. The pool was a delight and views from the bedrooms absolutely amazing. Being high up, the villa has quiet surroundings, which made for an extra restful experience and a good night's sleep. There is a bit of hill down to the restaurants, but totally worth it for a meal at Lourenco, can definitely recommend for its catch of the day and happy service! Our only excursion was to Zavial, beautiful beach close to Salema with a wonderful fish restaurant. Valerie did a great job managing our booking, helpful and responsive at all times and Amanda was always there to answer any of our questions once we had arrived. It was one of the best holidays we have ever had, thoroughly recommend it for some R&R in the sunshine.

May 2022 Wow, what a wonderful villa! We had a perfect holiday here with our kids. Salema itself is lovely; it has everything you need but also lovely places to visit nearby. The villa surpassed our expectations. It was very spacious, clean, well equipped and well located (bit of a steep walk home after a big dinner but perfectly manageable and you could easily drive if needed although our little ones managed it fine). The pool was glorious after a hot day at the beach. The hosts were very helpful - they gave us privacy but were on hand next door if needed. Valerie was extremely helpful and accommodating ahead of the trip too and went to extra lengths to help us. We will definitely return! Thank you!
